MIDI to DAW

Postby K207 » 31 May 2014, 19:14

Is it possible to transfer recording MIDI within Pianist Pro to a DAW? Thank you!

You can export your track as a midi file, which places it in the iTunes Shared Folder. From there you can copy that file to a desktop, and load that "mid" file into any DAW.

You can also export MIDI by setting up a MIDI connection to your DAW (eg. with Network MIDI), then playing your song in Pianist Pro, and recording in your DAW. This allows you to export the Arpeggiator output notes, rather than just the input chords.

What version of LogicPro is Pianist Pro compatible with? I was dismayed to find that the version of GarageBand ('11) and LogicPro9 I have on my MacMini would not read the compositions I had created in GarageBand on my iPod (iOS7). I don't want the same thing to happen if I get Pianist Pro. I have OS10.7.5 on my Mac, and will be getting a new iPadAir2 which has iOS8. I will be exporting tracks as MIDI files. Thanks!

Pianist Pro creates a Standard MIDI File that should be readable by any MIDI package.

I use Logic 9 and bought Pianist Pro today and it exports nicely to Logic 9 the only thing I really don't like is being tethered chained to iTunes I want it to save midi files to Dropbox or an other app like almost all music apps today. I hope they drag this app into the present and make this availible.
